The Evaluation of “cArabiyyatiyy" Courseware for Arabic Vocabulary Learning among Non-Native Students

Abstract

This study presents the evaluation procedures of Arabic vocabulary courseware namely “cArabiyyatiyy” for non-Arabic students at the beginner’s level. This study employs an evaluative method in conducting its research procedures. 40 level one students from the Center for Foundation Studies, International Islamic University Malaysia had participated in the study which was carried out during the semester two of 2012/2013 academic year. The results of the vocabulary tests also show the success of multimedia program in the process of teaching and learning Arab vocabulary, since most of the students obtained good results in their post-tests conducted throughout the study. The study concludes that multimedia program can be used by all non-Arabic students regardless of their categories and backgrounds.

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تقويم برنامج الوسائط المتعددة اسمه "عربيتي" في إكساب مفردات اللغة العربية لدى الدارسين الناطقين بغيرها. وقد اعتمدت هذه الدراسة على ضوابط المنهج الوصفي من خلال إجراء المقابلات من الدارسين في جمع البيانات ثمّ تحللها تحليلا عمليا متخذة من الخطوات الإجرائية اللازمة (براون وكلارك، 2006) في التحليل. لقد تم الإجراء في الفصل الدراسي الثاني عام 2012م/2013م من أجل قياس مدى فعالية هذا البرنامج التعليمي لدى 40 طالبًا في مركز الدراسات الأساسية، الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية بماليزيا. وتبيّنت من النتائج أن هناك ارتفاعا في الدرجة لدى معظم من عينة الدراسة في التحصيل التعليمي. وأثبتت الدراسة أن برنامج "عربيتي" يعزّز رغبة الطلبة وحبّ الاكتشاف لديهم ويدفعهم للمشاركة بفاعلية ونشاط في المهام التعليمية.
