Abstract

The national education landscape has moved forward with the birth of various tahfiz institutions that combined the academic and Quran education in their curriculum. The schools have used different approaches and techniques in the development of the Quran education modules. This has presented a unique chance to assess and scrutinise the available modules and develop best practices in the teaching and learning of Quran. This article uses libraries research methods to obtain information. This study analysed the available modules and suggested a holistic Quran education programme that was not limited only to Quran memorisation aspect. This PERMATA Insan Quran education module covers all the rights of Quran towards Muslim individual such as the concept of al-qira’at, al-hifz, al-fahm, al-camal and al-tabligh. The basic concept that help shaped the module is VARK (Visual, Aural, Read/write, and Kinesthetic). The approach in the teaching of gifted and talented students known as Differentiated Model of Giftedness and Talent (DMGT) was also taken into account. The educational technology approach too played a part in the teaching and learning of the Quran module. The components developed were measured against the Bloom’s Taxonomy and it covered the knowledge, understanding, application and analysis level. This module could become a useful guide for any interested institutions that would adopt it in their Quran education programme.
